With the commercial aviation market finally turning a corner, the recovery of Asia Pacific region is accelerating to keep pace with strong demand. As such, Aviation Week Network’s 2023 Forecast indicates a 3.5% compound annual fleet growth rate over the next 10 years, with the global commercial aftermarket expected to grow to USD113 billion in 2032. 

Our annual gathering convenes the region’s senior aerospace and aviation executives, key stakeholders, government officials and academics for an executive panel discussion and MRO Awards dinner.

Dr. Jamie Ng Suat Ling
Division Head (Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering)
Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), A*STAR, Singapore

Dr Jamie Ng is a Senior Scientist and Division Head (Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering) at the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), A*STAR, Singapore. She oversees projects in AI, visual and data analytics, automation, connectivity and cybersecurity in manufacturing and aerospace; She is the Programme Lead for Smart Automated Aircraft Visual Inspection System (SAAVIS) looking into the automation of defect detection in airframes. Concurrently, she leads the Human Factors and Visual Interface group at I2R’s Visual Intelligence department. Her research interests includes AI, augmented reality and automation to enhance human visual processes in aerospace and built-environment. 

Dr Ng served as an associate chair for the ACM SIGCHI Paper and Notes programme committee in User Experience and Usability and was part of the 7th management committee for the ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter. She publishes in ACM SIGCHI, ACM SIGGRAPH, ACM Multimedia, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society as well as IEEE’s International Symposium of Mixed and Augmented Reality. She holds several patents and is a recipient of the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award. Jamie received her PhD in Human Factors Engineering, MSc in Smart Product Design and BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Singapore.

Torbjorn Karlsson

Torbjorn Karlsson is a Senior Client Partner in Korn Ferry Singapore office/Asia Pacific Headquarters where he is a member of the Firm’s Global Industrial Market.

Mr. Karlsson specializes in advising C-Suites and Boards within the industrial sector on how to build highly effective organizations and executive teams.

For the last 30 years he has lived and worked across multiple locations in Asia Pacific and brings a proven track record in assembling high performing teams, as an executive recruiter, advisor and as a senior leader; particularly in the manufacturing, automotive, aerospace and aviation and commercial functions.

Mr. Karlsson has a broad background in consulting, sales, marketing, infrastructure projects, and procurement. He is passionate about developing ASEAN as a strategic market and has built leadership teams in some of Asia Pacific's top multinational companies. Mr. Karlsson holds an MBA, studied mechanical engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt

Mike Stengel
Principal

Mike Stengel is a Principal at AeroDynamic Advisory, where he is responsible for project management, intellectual property development, & analysis of aerospace markets. Mike’s project experience has spanned multiple disciplines, including market analysis, business strategy, & transaction advisory across the aerospace manufacturing and aftermarket segments. In addition, Mike has been an invited guest speaker to a variety of industry conferences, associations, company events, and universities to provide industry outlooks and insights. He is a board member at the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan, and is an FAA-certified commercial pilot with an instrument rating.

Ian Wolfe
Airline MRO and Fleet Management Consultant

Ian has a broad range of MRO and airline engineering experience having been in the industry for over 20 years and in various parts of the world including Australia, Middle East and now Philippines.

These skills range from Line and Base Maintenance Planning activities, Chief Executive duties of MRO and heading a Commercial operation of MRO in the Middle East as part of the development of a global footprint. Previous positions have been Head of Engineering for Cebu Pacific and Engineering and Fleet Management business for Cebu Pacific; the Philippines leading low cost carrier. He has also worked with Qantas as GM of Commercial Planning, Chief Commercial Officer at ADAT (Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies) and CEO of John Holland Aviation Services in Melbourne. He is now Head of Engineering at Cebu Pacific Air, The Philippines leading airline and low cost carrier based in Manila. Ian has a Bachelor of Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Finance and is a qualified CPA.

Xu Chaoqun

the Airworthiness Branch of Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (Former Director General of the Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Department of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC))

Mr. Xu was graduated from Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) in 1982, majored in Aviation Electrical Engineering, and obtained the Master degree of Sino-France Aviation Safety Management. He’s been worked at JAL from 1988 to 1989, and studied Public Policy at Duke University in 2006, and studied EMBA at Tsinghua University in 2012. Senior Engineer。

Mr. Xu has been worked on safety and airworthiness management of civil aviation aircrafts and products over a long period of time. He has insightful views and abundant experience on Maintenance Certification, Manufacture Inspection, Aircraft and Engine Type Certification, Aviation Fuel and Chemical Products Certification etc. 

Mr. Xu has been successively held the posts of Deputy Director General of Flight Standards Dept.,Deputy Director General of Airworthiness Certification Dept. in CAAC Headquarter, and Director General (Head) of Engine Certification Center of CAAC,Director General of Airworthiness Certification Dept. in CAAC Headquarter.
